Coneflower "Amber" - Rudbeckia speciosa.
A perennial plant 50-60 cm high. The leaves are oblong to round. The ligulate flowers are orange-yellow, the tubular ones are brown-black. It blooms from July for 55-65 days. Prefers open sunny places, requires well-cultivated, fertile soils.
Propagated by seeds or by dividing the rhizome.
Sowing in late March - April. Seeds should be sprinkled with a thin layer of soil and slightly moistened. At a temperature of +16 +18 °C, shoots appear in 2-3 weeks.
The grown seedlings are planted in a flower bed after the end of spring frosts, since all rudbeckias are thermophilic at a young age, but in adulthood they tolerate even the first autumn frosts, changing only the color of the inflorescences.
It is interesting that even faded rudbeckias do not lose their attractiveness, as they retain green leaves in autumn, and their charm is given by the convex receptacles, which rise above the plants for a long time. They are used in group plantings, mixborders and for cutting.

Coneflower. Bot. syn.: Rudbeckia fulgida Ait. var. speciosa (Wender.), Rudbeckia newmani Loud.
